Privacy Policy

Travary keeps your holiday plans so you, and the people you travel with, can see them. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and your passports never leave your phone.

The short version
  • Your trips and bookings are stored in our cloud (Google Firebase) so they sync and can be shared with the people you invite.
  • Passports, visas and other travel documents are stored only on your phone, behind its lock. We never receive them.
  • Smart Import sends the file you choose to Google's Gemini AI to read the booking. We don't keep the file on our servers.
  • Usage statistics (Google Firebase Analytics) count which actions happen in the app, never what you've booked or typed.
  • Flight alerts (optional, on trips with a pass) use the flight number and date of your flights, and your phone's notification token.
  • No advertising, no selling data, no tracking you across other apps or websites.
  • You can delete your data at any time: see Delete your data.

This policy covers the Travary app for iPhone and Android, this website (travary.app) and Travary's support pages. "Travary", "we" and "us" mean Dream Prayer Developer, who makes the Travary app (the developer named on its Google Play listing). Questions? Email [email protected].

1. What we collect and why

Your account

Travary works straight away with a guest account: a random identifier, with no name or email. If you choose Continue with Apple or Continue with Google, we receive your name and email address from that service (Apple may give us a private relay address instead) so your trips are kept if you change phones. We use them only to run your account and to reply if you contact us.

Your trips and bookings

What you add to the app: trip names, dates and destinations; each booking's name, type, dates and times, places, booking references, notes and details such as seats, room or party size; plans you mark as not needed; and your trip's "Before you go" checklist. We store these to show them to you and the people on your trip, and to sort them into days.

Ticket files

Photos and PDFs you attach are saved on your phone so they open offline. When a trip is shared with family, or covered by an Annual Pass or a Holiday Pass, its tickets are also backed up to our cloud storage so everyone on the trip has them.

Names on a shared trip

When you invite someone or join a trip, you choose the name the others see (for example "Alex").

Purchases

Purchases are made through the App Store or Google Play; we never see your card or payment details. We keep a record of what you've bought (an Annual Pass, or Holiday Passes and which trip each pass is for, with its dates) so we can unlock it on your devices and for the people on your trip. We use RevenueCat to manage purchases; it receives an app user identifier (not your name or email) and your purchase history from the store.

Usage counts

To keep things fair and our costs in check, we count how many Smart Imports, automatic trip looks and flight lookups each account uses, with the date. These are numbers, not what you imported.

Usage statistics

Travary uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used, for example how many people finish setting up a holiday or open the pass options. It records which actions happen (such as "booking added" or "pass options shown"), counts, and basic device information (device model, operating system, app version and approximate country from your IP address). For a travel document it records only that one was added and its type (such as "passport"). It never records your destinations, bookings, document details, email address or anything you type. Each installation gets a random analytics ID; we don't attach your account to it. Travary switches off the advertising identifier on both iPhone and Android, and doesn't share these statistics with advertisers. Google processes them on our behalf, and RevenueCat is given the same random analytics ID so purchases can be counted alongside.

Flight alerts and notifications

Flight alerts are optional and work on trips covered by an Annual Pass or Holiday Pass, for everyone on the trip. When you add a flight to such a trip, our server keeps a watch entry with the flight number, the date and the trip it belongs to (not your name). If you allow notifications, we also keep this phone's notification token (issued by Apple or Google) with your account identifier and phone type, so we know where to send an alert. Travary asks for permission once, when you first open a flight on a covered trip, never when the app starts. You can turn notifications off at any time in your phone's settings.

Technical information

Like any app that connects to the internet, our servers and providers receive your IP address and basic device information (such as the app version) when the app connects. Server logs record events such as "a Smart Import succeeded" with your account identifier; they never contain the contents of your files or bookings.

Phone permissions

  • Photos: only to attach a ticket or choose a file for Smart Import, when you ask.
  • Face ID, fingerprint or passcode: to lock your travel documents. This is checked by your phone; we never receive any biometric data.
  • Notifications: for flight alerts (above) and for reminders about your own trip's days and bookings. Reminders are set on your phone from your bookings and are never sent to our servers. Travary only asks when you choose to turn them on.

Travary does not use your location, contacts, microphone or advertising identifier.

Why we use your information

To provide the app you asked for (storing, syncing and sharing your trips, and the features you use); to keep the service secure and prevent abuse; to process purchases and meet legal obligations; and to answer you when you contact us. Where the law asks for a legal basis, these are performing our agreement with you, our legitimate interest in running a secure and reliable service, and complying with the law. Where we ask your permission (such as access to your photos), you can withdraw it in your phone's settings.

The waiting list (travary.app)

If you join the waiting list on travary.app, we keep your email address, the phone you picked (iPhone or Android, if you chose one), the page you joined from, and when. We use it only to email you when Travary is released, with the link for your phone. To stop people signing up in bulk, we also keep a scrambled (salted and hashed) form of your IP address for up to a day; it can't be turned back into the address.

2. Travel documents stay on your phone

Passports, visas, insurance and other travel documents you add are stored only in the app's private storage on your phone and protected by your phone's lock. They are never uploaded to our servers, shared with your trip's family, sent to Smart Import or any AI service, or included in our logs. Numbers stay hidden until you choose to show them. If you choose Send a copy, your phone's share sheet sends it to whoever you pick; we're not involved. Because we never have them, we can't recover them if you lose your phone.

3. Features that use other services

Smart Import

When you choose a screenshot, photo or PDF (or share one to Travary from another app), the app sends it to our server, which passes it to Google's Gemini API to read the booking details. The file is not stored on our servers; the result comes back to you as a draft to check, and the file stays on your phone as your ticket. We use Google's paid Gemini API service. Under Google's terms for it, Google does not use this content to improve its products, and may keep it for a limited time only to detect abuse.

Automatic trip looks

To choose a card style and recognise where a trip goes, our server sends the trip's name and its bookings' names and places to the Gemini API. Places it finds may be checked with Google Places. We keep the resulting Google place identifiers, and place coordinates for no more than 30 days, as Google's terms require.

Live flight status

Where this is available, the app sends a flight number and date through our server to AeroDataBox (via API.Market) to show the gate, terminal and any delays. Answers are kept briefly so everyone on the same flight gets them quickly, and aren't linked to you.

Flight alerts

For the flights on trips covered by a pass, our server checks the flight's status with AeroDataBox (via API.Market) from a few days before departure until it lands, sending only the flight number and date. When something changes (a delay, new times, a cancellation, check-in, boarding, take-off or landing, and a gate or baggage belt where the provider has one), it sends a notification through Apple's push notification service or Google Firebase Cloud Messaging to the phones of everyone on the trip who has allowed notifications.

Destination art

The app downloads artwork for your destinations from our cloud storage. These requests say which art pack is needed, not who you are or what you've booked.

4. Sharing a trip

Everyone you invite to a trip can see and change its bookings, checklist and tickets, and sees the names of the others on it. They can't see your other trips or your travel documents. An organiser can remove people, and anyone can leave a trip. If you leave a trip or someone removes you, you no longer see it, and what's on the trip stays with the others.

5. Who processes your data

We use these service providers to run Travary. They process data on our behalf, under their own security and privacy terms:

ProviderWhat for
Google (Firebase: Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions)Your account, trips, bookings, checklists, ticket backups and our server code

RevenueCatManaging purchases and subscriptions
AeroDataBox (via API.Market)Live flight status and flight alerts, where available
CloudflareHosting travary.app and storing the waiting list

Our data is stored on Google Cloud, mainly in the United States, so it may be processed outside your country. Where the law requires it, transfers rely on our providers' standard safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of the app, in which case this policy continues to apply.

6. What we don't do

  • We don't sell or rent your personal information, or share it for advertising.
  • We don't show ads or use advertising identifiers, and we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
  • We don't use the usage statistics to profile you or to build an advertising profile. They count actions only, and we keep them free of your booking contents and travel documents.

7. How long we keep it

  • Trips, bookings, checklists and ticket backups: until you delete them or your account. Trips that form on their own disappear when their last booking is deleted.
  • When you delete your account: trips only you are on are deleted with their bookings, invites and ticket files. Trips you share stay with the others, without you. Your account and purchase records are deleted too.
  • Place coordinates: no more than 30 days.
  • The waiting list: until we've emailed you that Travary is out, then deleted, or sooner if you ask us to remove you.
  • Flight status answers: from 10 minutes (close to departure) to six hours (once the flight has landed).
  • Flight alert watch entries: until about three days after the flight, or sooner if the booking or trip is deleted or the trip is no longer covered by a pass.
  • Notification tokens: until you delete your account, or sooner if Apple or Google tells us the token no longer works.
  • Usage statistics: kept by Google Analytics for a limited period set in our Analytics settings, and not linked to your account.
  • Server logs: kept for a limited time by Google Cloud (normally 30 days) to run and secure the service.
  • Records we must keep by law (such as purchase records the stores hold) are kept by Apple, Google or RevenueCat as their terms and the law require.

8. Your choices and rights

  • See and change your trips and bookings in the app at any time.
  • Delete bookings, trips or your whole account in the app, or ask us by email. See Delete your data.
  • Turn off notifications (flight alerts and reminders) at any time in your phone's settings.
  • Get a copy of your data, or ask us to correct or restrict it: email us from the address on your account, or tell us which trips are yours if you use Travary as a guest.

Depending on where you live (for example in the UK, the European Economic Area or California), you may have further rights, such as to object to processing or to complain to your local data protection authority. We'll answer requests within a month. We don't sell or share personal information as California law defines it, and we won't treat you differently for using your rights.

9. Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Google Cloud. Access rules mean only the people on a trip can read it, and only our servers can change who's on a trip or what's been bought. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your phone locked and your Apple or Google account protected.

10. Children

Travary is for planning family holidays, but accounts are meant for adults. It isn't directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you think a child has given us their information, email us and we'll delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.

12. Contact

Travary is made by Dream Prayer Developer. For anything about your privacy, email [email protected].
